Cultural Ride

What it is

A First Nations adventure trail ride which creates an environment to step back in time and explore the rich language, culture and traditions of the Tsq'escnm'c Peoples (People of the broken rock). The Tsq'escnm'c Peoples are a tribe of the interior Shuswap Nation, which encompasses a territory from Bowron Lake park in the north to near the U.S. border in the south. Through the practice of both modern and traditional rituals, crafts and values, riders come away with a better understanding of First Nations values, culture and their strong ties to the land.

Old Trails New Adventures provides guests an unparalleled and authentic experience in adventure and personal well being, in one of Canada's most breathtaking areas, the Cariboo Mountains.

Join us for a horseback adventure which will take you outside of time, heighten your awareness of First Nations traditions and values and strengthen your connection to the natural world.

We offer trips of various lengths and themes.

Sleep in a tipi, eat traditional foods, sing around a campfire. Relax and enjoy these and many other unforgettable experiences while our experienced and qualified guides will facilitate a safe, healthy and comfortable environment during the duration of your travels with us. Our guides bring the best of experience and knowledge in the old ways combined with the modern needs and necessities of first aid, wilderness awareness and contingency.

Learn to ride, appreciating the ascetic and ancient connection between horses and humans and reconnect to your primitive roots in the natural world. Our trails traverse the high alpine wonderlands of the Cariboo mountains, home to an array of animal and plant life, with a new vista at every turn.

I feel extremely lucky to know Dylan and Mike for many reasons, they could fill up books. Riding horses in the beautiful Cariboo region, getting to know the culture around the evening fire, or sharing songs and thoughts in a sweatlodge are incredible ways to connect with nature, other cultures, one another and oneself. It's a brilliant opportunity with brilliant peoples! - Renaud Richard, Project Manager, Briancon, France.

Community Partnerships

Old Trails New Adventures, Eureka Peak Lodge and Canim Lake (Tsq'escnm'c) First Nations.

Old Trails New Adventures involves community partnerships on many levels. Eureka Peak Lodge and Outfitters, which is a well established business of 25 years has employed and trained Dylan Spencer since he was a teenager. Although traditionally a hunting, fishing and horseback oriented business, Eureka Peak Lodge and Outfitters has offered a supporting structure to allow Mike Archie and Dylan Spencer to revitalize some traditions and pursue new and innovative pathways in cultural tourism. With support from the Canim Lake Band combined with our mentoring and support from Eureka Peak Lodge and Outfitters we are able to offer this unique and authentic experience in Cariboo Country and Tsq'escnm'c territory.
